Dixie Boys ousted from World Series


The Halifax County 14 U Dixie Boys were competitive in their last game in World Series action in Bluffton, S.C.

But the locals fell short, dropping an elimination game to Louisiana, 12-9.

Louisiana scored six runs in the first inning.

The Virginia champions surrendered five hits, including two home runs. Louisiana also worked pitch counts for three walks, putting Virginia in an early hole. The Virginia all-stars squandered an opportunity in the second inning, with the bases loaded.

No one scored.

The locals started five runs in the third inning. The uprising started with a leadoff walk to Colton Allen, followed by a Leo Noblin hit. Shea Carey walked and Anthony Conner, Jackson Dunavant and Zyliek Perkins followed with hits.

Louisiana responded by scoring two runs on three hits. Halifax got on the board with a K. Logan homer.

Louisiana scored one run in the fifth on a solo Homer. Louisiana added three runs in the sixth on two hits and three walks.

Halifax scored three times in the top of the seventh, on three hits.

The haul included singles from Kendall Logan and Anthony Conner and a two-home run from Briley Moore.

The Virginia pitchers for the game were Noblin, Perkins, and Dunavant. The pitchers gave up 12 hits, nine walks, and had nine strikeouts combined.
