Local people throughout the school year play a big hand in helping to make Halifax County High School sports programs successful.

One local, Jimmy Wade, saw such a need with the tennis and cross-country teams at the high school. Wade donated a tent to be used with both of the sports programs.

The tent is quite nice with reversible panels and most importantly, it will help keep Comet athletes protected from exposure to adverse weather conditions, and provide some additional comfort.

HCHS girls tennis coach Donna Hudson said the donation is truly welcomed.

“I am thrilled with it,” Hudson said! “It looks great and will be a big help. We have all kinds of weather for spring sports — from very, very cold to very, very hot, and in between.

“I so appreciate Jimmy Wade seeing this need and stepping in to fill it. And it looks so impressive! The girls are going to feel very, honored to be able to have something like this at our games.

“It’s reversible — tennis on one side, cross county on the other. The back wall peels off (Velcro) and you just put it on the opposite side so that the team that’s playing is showing.
