Halloween rundown: Info to know for enjoying spooky fun

Happy Halloween.

But to experience the thrill of the night, it is important to keep a few rules in mind.

Under Virginia law, no one over the age of 12 may wear a costume mask in public except as part of a theatrical performance or at a private event. This does not apply to face coverings associated with CDC guidelines for COVID-19.

Many towns have a curfew for trick or treaters, typically 8 p.m. Adults who do not want young witches, goblins and ghouls to visit them for treats are asked to keep their outside lights turned off.
