Sunday, which was Harvest Day, call to worship was “Praise Him Praise Him” by the choir at Hitesburg Baptist Church. The Reverend Mike Riley read the announcements and welcomed everyone. The youth choir sang “God is So Good”. Dennis Ballance played the guitar. Hymn was “We Gather Together”. The children’s sermon, which was lead by Linda Singer, was concerning being thankful. She asked the children “When someone gives you something do you say thanks?”. Answers were given. A doughnut was used as a visual aide. Linda told the children that we should all focus on the doughnut and not the hole in the center. She also said that we should all serve God and be thankful for everything every day. Two children, including Mia Medley, ended the time with a prayer. Prayer time ended with a prayer from the Deacon of the Week, Carl Daniel. Hymn was “Come Ye Thankful People Come”. Choir special was “Count Your Blessings”. Everyone fellowshipped with one another while, Deborah Pulliam, pianist/organist, played a couple of verses. The Rev. Riley brought the sermon entitiled “How Can We Say Thanks to God?”. Scripture came from Psalm 100, John 15:11, Psalm 122:1, Psalm 46:10, John 3:16 and Proverbs 26:20. Hymn was “Blessed Assurance”. The Reverend Riley sang a solo of “My Tribute”. Visitors at HBC Sunday included Chad & Jennifer Overby, Chasity Bowen, Bailey Bowen, Averie Bowen, Tim Loftis, Layne and Laura Arrington, Parker Arrington, Dustin Mullins, Siara Mullins, Leah Mullins, Carolyn Winstead and a few others.

James and Lori Wade, Nathan Wade and Evelyn Wade spent some time with Bobby and Connie Cranfill throughout the week.

Charlie Conner spent a few days with a couple of his friends throughout the week.

Those visiting Abraham Tillotson throughout the week included Annie Lee Owen, Mary Ella Long, the Reverend Mike Riley, Randy Smith, Jerry and Donna Puryear, Jimmy and Mabel Seate, Ervin Tillotson, Richard Watkins, Ronnie and Deborah Pulliam, Jimmy Sanford, Mary Holloway and the Reverend Bill Weeks. Dean Elliott visited him last Wednesday. Saturday, Billy Tuck visited Mr. Tillotson. Norma Elliott, Sam Parham, James Hart, Johnny Szynklewski and Perry Bagbey stopped by to see Abraham Sunday.

Those visiting Ruth Overby throughout the week included Leslie Overby, Norma Elliott and Mitzie Waller. Saturday evening; Norma, Mitzie and Ruth; along with Sam Parham, went to a stew at Jerry and Barbara Burton’s in Roxboro. Monday, Mr. and Mrs. James Wade, Nathan Wade, Evelyn Wade and Bobby Cranfill visited Mrs.Overby.

Sam Parham visited Norma Elliott throughout the week Layne and Laura Arrington and Parker Arrington went to Mr. and Mrs. Dean Elliott’s for a short visit Wednesday evening. Friday evening; Dean and Ann, along with Jimmy and Bonnie Wilson, went out to eat in Danville. Saturday evening, Dean and Ann attended a 50th birthday celebration for Brian Burton at his home. Sunday evening; Ronnie and Deborah Pulliam, Dean and Ann went out to eat in South Boston. They also visited with Christian and Erica Willis at their home.

Annie Sue Overby spent some time with Janie Keeton throughout the week.

In celebration of Harvest Day, there was a lunch in the church basement following the service. Members of the church had prepared several dishes for the occasion. After lunch, a number of people stayed to hear Jonathan Abbott sing some hymns. His grandfather, Keith Abbott, played the piano.

Remember the sick, lost and those who have lost loved ones including the Sam Mitchell family, the Charlie Moore family, the Phil Hill family, the Hattie Sue Wilkerson family, the Bob Cage family, the Tuny Rice family and the Jimmy Tingen family. Remember our great country and the problems in it, the lost/unchurched, HBC; hospital and nursing home patients, people serving on missions, people searching for jobs and each other as well. Also, remember our troops including Mariah Johns Adkins, Timmy Wilkinson, Jamie Epps, Jonathan Fisher, Brandon Barksdale, Jesse Lee Seamons and Dan Elliott.
