Human remains were discovered Monday morning in the South Hill area by a person walking along Bent Creek Road near Dockery Road, according to Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Major Andy Ezell.
The Sheriff’s Office is releasing few details other than to say the body was that of a black female whom they believe to have been reported as missing from Victoria in Lunenburg County on Friday. The woman’s abandoned car was found in the South Hill area on Monday.
A pedestrian called the Mecklenburg 911 Center to report finding the body around 9 a.m.
The deceased appears to have died from trauma associated with a gunshot wound. Ezell said. Investigators believe she was shot in a different location and her body dumped on Bent Creek Road. Her remains have been sent to the Medical Examiner’s office for identification.
