Lady Comet jayvees remain undefeated

The HCHS jayvee softball team remained unbeaten this spring following a 3-0 win over Franklin County Saturday.

The Comet girls got a terrific mound effort from Samantha Gibson, who limited FCHS to two hits, while five.

The jayvee softball team, leading off a big afternoon of Comet sports here, got one run in the first inning, and then capped off the win with two runs in the fourth frame.

Verlisha Brandon got hit with a pitch with one out, and Caitlin Lawhorne singled and Jill Trickey was hit by a pitch. Brandon scored in the inning.

HCHS later put together three singles and a sacrifice fly in the two-run fourth. Lawhorne singled, Trickey hit a single, and then Kate Bane added a sacrifice fly. Brittany Long also singled, as Lawhorne and Gibson, who had reached on a fielder’s choice, scored in the inning.

Halifax finished with four hits in the win.
