Lions to face Park View for title


The Halifax County Middle School baseball team advanced to Southside Middle School conference tournament final at Park View today, with the action starting at 4:30 p.m..

HCMS downed Central of Charlotte, 3-1, Monday.

The Lions scored two runs in the second – on a Colby Grissom homer – and HCMS added a solo shot from Dustin Fears in the seventh.

HCMS made efficient use of the longball, since the Lions had only five hits, and two of those came in the second. Starter Thomas Cole singled and Grissom belted the ball out.

Cole went five innings and Tripp Bennett finished up, as HCMS held Central to five hits. Central got its lone run in the fourth.

Cole allowed one run on four hits, while striking out 11. Bennett allowed one hit in two innings, with three strikeouts.
