Mary Dudley Harrison of South Boston died Saturday, June 18, 2022. She was born in Franklin County, on April 14, 1940, and was 82 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Hobert Dudley and the late Doris Turner Dudley. She was married to the late Julian Randolph Harrison Jr.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church of South Boston, and she was a teacher and the director of First Baptist Church Pre-school for 20 years. Mary also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the South Boston Garden Club. She loved her family and friends and will be missed by all those that knew her.
Mrs. Harrison is survived by her children, Robin Harrison Mitchell and husband Bob of South Boston, and Julian Randolph “Trey” Harrison III and wife Karen of Haw River, N.C.; four grandchildren, Meagan Owen (Jared) of Virgilina, Monica Mears (Robby) of South Boston, Olivia Jennings-Land (Hannah) of Richmond, and Laurel Jennings of Springfield; four great grandchildren, Brecken Mears, Juliana Owen, Pierson Mears, and Clare Owen, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by siblings Nora Belle Bennett and Billy Wayne Dudley.
A funeral will be held Friday, June 24, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Susan Davis and Rev. Garrett Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday, one hour prior to the service and other times at 300 Merritt Street, South Boston.
