No injuries in three vehicle crash Friday


No injuries were reported in a three-vehicle crash Friday evening at the intersection of Ball Park Loop and Mountain Road outside of Halifax.

According to a report filed by investigating Virginia State Trooper L. V. Pambid, 46 year old David Gibson of Halifax, the driver of a 2007 Volvo, attempted to make a left turn onto Ball Park Loop when his vehicle struck a 1984 Chevrolet C10, operated by 71 year old Abraham Perkins of Halifax.

Perkins’ vehicle was headed east on Mountain Road when the crash occurred. The impact caused Perkins’ vehicle to strike a 2003 Nissan Maxima operated by 22 year old Jonathan Tucker which was stopped at the stop sign at the Ball Park Loop entrance.

Damages to Gibson’s Volvo were estimated at $2,000 while those to Perkins’ vehicle were set at $1,000 and $2,000 to Tucker’s Nissan.

In a single vehicle mishap Monday at 3:20 a.m., a 1990 Nissan operated by 57 year old Randy Tune of Nathalie swerved off the road to avoid striking a deer. The car struck a drain pipe on US 501 about two-tenths mile south of its intersection with State Route 761 and overturned. It was deemed a total loss.

Trooper W. R. Wooding filed no charges in the crash, which resulted in minor injuries to Tune.
