The Bluestone girls soccer team suffered an upset Monday in Skipwith, falling to cross-county rival Park View 4-2 in the waning minutes of the match.

The contest was important for both teams as Bluestone (3-6-0) was looking to take the home win on Senior Night for midfielder Molly Garner, the team’s lone senior.

PV (3-4-1, 0-1-1 Tri-Rivers) was looking for the win to position themselves for postseason play. The Dragon girls are in second place in district play.

Park View hosts Halifax County on Friday as the regular season winds down. Halifax edged out PV earlier this year in its season opener, 3-2.

Both of the Barons goals were scored by Emma Reighert. PV had two goals posted by sophomore Alice Gonzalez-Sanchez and a goal each by senior class sisters and team captains Nakya and Tamya Garnes.

Reighert scored her first goal at the five-minute mark of the first half.

After the half, Reighert posted her second goal at the 25.49 mark off an Ella Beatty assist. The score gave Bluestone a 2-0 lead.

Park View was able to get a goal by Nakya Garnes with 25.49 on the clock.

With eight minutes left to play the match got real busy.

At the 4.51 mark Gonzalez-Sanchez scored to tie the match at 2. As the match went into extended time, PV scored two back-to-back goals by Gonzalez-Sanchez and Tamya Garnes, making the score 4-2.
