MECKLENBURG COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
NOTICE OF INTENT TO PROPOSE ORDINANCES FOR ADOPTION
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
RE: ORDINANCES TO AMEND
THE MECKLENBURG COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES PURSUANT TO VA. CODE ANN. §58.1-2636 AND VA. CODE ANN. §58.1-2606.1
On Monday, May 9, 2022, beginning at 9:30 a.m., or as soon thereafter as practical, in the Board of Supervisors’ meeting room in the Goode Bank Building located at 350 Washington Street, Boydton, Virginia 23917, the MecklenburgCounty Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing on two proposed ordinances, as follows:
1. An ordinance pursuant to Va. Code Ann. §58.1-2636 which would amend Sec. 66-123(a) and Sec. 66-125(a) of the Mecklenburg County Code of Ordinances to increase the annual tax of $1,400.00 per megawatt on any solar photovoltaic (electric energy) project, or any energy storage system, effective July 1, 2026 and effective every five years thereafter, by 10 percent. This ordinance will become effective immediately upon adoption.
2. An ordinance pursuant to Va. Code Ann. §58.1-2606.1 which would repeal Sec. 66-124.a(iii) of the Mecklenburg County Code of Ordinances, and which would add Article VI titled “Local Taxation for Solar Photovoltaic Projects Five Megawatts or Less” to Chapter 66 titled “Taxation”, to be numbered Sec. 66-126 through 66-128, of the Mecklenburg County Code of Ordinances. This ordinance will become effective on July 1, 2022.
At the conclusion of the public hearing, the Board may adopt one or both ordinances, or the Board may adopt one or both ordinances at a subsequent meeting.
