Rosa Hamlett Cook


Rosa Hamlett Cook, 96, of Crystal Hill, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020. She was born in Charlotte County on Dec. 15, 1923, daughter of the late Luther Hamlett and the late Annie Trent Hamlett. She was married to the late Clayton Henry Cook and was a member of Ellis Creek Baptist Church.

Ms. Cook is survived by her grandchildren, Karen Shiner (David) of Richmond, Melanie Dodd (Michael) of Dry Fork, Angela Martin (Mike) of Dry Fork, Joshua Cook of Richmond; great-grandchildren, Madison Dodd, Courtney Miller, Mason Dodd and D.J. Miller; son-in-law, David Harris; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Landrum; sisters, Daisey Meurrens, Mary Hudson, Alice Lowery, Eunice Hux and Esther Martin; special friends, Mike and Pat Spencer.

She was preceded in death by her children, Faye Harris and David Cook and her siblings, Cabel Hamlett, James Hamlett, Luther Hamlett, Cartwell Hamlett, George Hamlett, Eva Crews, Georgia Beadles, Nellie Jennings, Beatrice Jones, Velma Glass and Mazzie Conner.

Graveside services will be held Friday, July 31, 11:00 a.m. at Ellis Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dib Mills and Rev. Jim Kopco officiating. Due to the concerns over COVID-19 and with the health and wellness of everyone in mind, we request that everyone attending please wear a mask and practice social distancing.
