“Oh man, I’ve got the winning ticket!”

That’s how Albert Logan reacted when he discovered he had the top-prize-winning ticket in the Virginia Lottery’s Powerball Bonus Raffle. His ticket, #1575607, was drawn from 3 million entries in the March 1 drawing to win $100,000.

“I jumped up and down and said ‘Thank you, Lord,’” the South Boston man told Lottery officials as he claimed his prize.

Logan had a total of 14 tickets in the Powerball Bonus Raffle. The tickets were given to Virginia Lottery players who bought Powerball tickets on or after January 15. Players could also purchase the tickets separately for $1. It took just three and a half weeks, until February 8, for all 3 million raffle tickets to be given away.

Logan received the $100,000 winning ticket at Apple Market, 3225 Halifax Road in South Boston, when he bought a Powerball ticket there. The tractor-trailer operator told Lottery officials he has been planning to retire within the next year or so, so the win comes at a particularly good time.

The Powerball Bonus Raffle helped introduce Virginia players to upgrades in the Powerball game, including higher minimum jackpots, improved odds and a $2 price point, beginning January 15.

An additional 400 tickets each win $250. Those numbers are now posted at the Virginia Lottery’s website: www.valottery.com. Players can also call the Virginia Lottery Player Information Line at 804-662-LUCK.

Powerball drawings are held at 10:59 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. Powerball drawings are broadcast on TV stations across Virginia and live on www.valottery.com and on the Lottery’s Facebook page..

The Virginia Lottery generates approximately $1.2 million per day for Virginia’s K-12 public schools.
