A Richmond-area teen singer is working with a Halifax County firm to advance her career, and the results are very promising so far.

Nyasia Monroe is now 14 and has attracted considerable attention to her work. The Richmond performer is a Stellar Award nominee, and taking her witness to God to a higher level. Her debut album, ‘Take Off’ has been nominated for the 2013 Stellar Awards, Children’s Project of the Year, with two hit singles, ‘Dream Maker’ and “I Love the Lord.’

Monroe is the youngest solo artist among the 2013 Stellar Award Nominations, and “it is truly God’s blessings on her life to be counted with so many great gospel legends,” according to her manager, Charles Clemmons.

Jeffrey Jackson, president of Jackson Media Group, is working to assist the teen signing sensation with her career.

“I met Nyasia on the first day of the shoot,” said Jackson, involved in producing the music video for Dream Maker. “She definitely is the kind of type of girl who seems ambitious. She took directions well as I prepared to get what I need for the video and in the industry that’s a plus. So definitely, if she just stays humble and ambitious, I think she can definitely live up to the standards that they’re expecting her to achieve.”

Jackson Media Group is a full-service design group, including photography, videography, printing and publishing, with an eye towards magazine publishing and other ventures. There are other aspects in this locally based media company, including extensive photography services from weddings to model portfolio development.

The company is based in South Boston, although 75 percent of his client base is from out of town but Jackson is working to grow his local company by aiming to work with local talent and community efforts.

Jackson’s work has taken him from up and down the east coast and the west coast also, involving a variety of clients, from NFL & NBA players to artists and comedians.

Monroe has seen some doors open up as her recording career progresses also. “Nyasia’s opportunities to share the stage with so many gospel greats can only have been ordered by God. His anointing on her life and her ministry takes her from singing in front of mom, dad and little brother to ministering in song in front of thousands of people from Richmond to Nashville, New Jersey to Pennslyvania; New York to North Carolina and the Stellar awards. Nyasia goes where ever God leads her, and you can tell just how much she truly loves the Lord when she sings his praises,” her manager wrote.

Her work is now available on iTunes, CDBaby, Amazon, ‘Take Off’, Hit singles: ‘Dream Maker’ & “I Love The Lord.”

“I get my inspiration through kids at school, little kids coming up to me, telling me how much they enjoy my music, and definitely God’s blessing,” she said.

“I’ve been singing in church since I was three years old. I’ve been going to church for as long as I can remember. I just definitely love God. I do as much as I can with my church. Even though I travel a lot, I make sure I come to church as much as I can. I do activities with them,” she said.

She is an active member of the Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Nyasia actively participates with the youth and young adult choir, as well as the mass choir.

She has a mission, for certain.

“The goal that I have right now is to keep on singing, and not let anybody tell me I can’t do it, because God is my dream maker. He can make all my dreams come true,” she said.

She also plans to attend college, although she has no specifics at this point. The eventual aim here is a professional music career.

Describing her music, she said her work is contemporary, with a pop feel. “I do basically everything. I can sing anything anybody wants me to sing. You give me the song, I’ll sing it for you,” the artist said.

She is seeking to continue to seek God’s help in her personal walk of faith, as well as her career.

The underlying message of her work, she explained, is that “God is still there for you, and he will always be with you.”
