The Halifax/South Boston Regional Narcotics and Gang Task Force conducted a mass arrest of 17 suspects on narcotics, firearms and other charges on Wednesday and Thursday of this week, rounding up individuals who were targeted in ongoing criminal investigations around the county.

Code named “Operation After Frost,” the bust yielded around three dozen criminal charges arising from the distribution of methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine and other controlled substances, along with firearms, malicious wounding, larceny and assault charges, and court- and probation-related violations.

“We also took the opportunity to focus efforts on attempting to locate subjects wanted throughout the county that were fugitives since we had such a strong contingency of resources/manpower allocated to this operation,” stated Task Force Coordinator R.B. George of the Virginia State Police.

Most of the suspects are Halifax County residents and some were previously sought on felony charges by the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, South Boston Police Department, Town of Halifax Police and Virginia State Police.

Aside from safely apprehending the targeted suspects, the operation aimed to identify and collect evidence to be used in court. The execution of a search warrant at one residence led to the seizure of approximately 454 grams (one pound) of suspected crystal methamphetamine valued at $45,400.

Additional arrests are forthcoming, George said.

Arrested so far as part of Operation After Frost, March 31-April 1, are the following individuals:
