Man struck by vehicle at Alton home; suspect charged with murder

A Clover woman has been arrested in a weekend homicide in Halifax County and charged with second degree murder.

Authorities took into custody Chantel Annette Canada, 33 of Brown’s Trail, Clover for her alleged involvement in the death of a male subject who was found laying in the yard of a Alton residence on Sunday morning.

According to Halifax County Sheriff Fred Clark, a call came into dispatch at approximately 6:35 a.m. on Sunday, May 16, reporting the unconscious male victim at a Traynham Grove Road home. Sheriff’s deputies and Virginia State Police who responded to the scene found the man laying in the yard, and Halifax County Sheriff’s Office investigators determined that the subject had been intentionally struck by a vehicle.

On Monday, May 17, Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Canada and charged her with second degree murder. Canada is being held in Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax without bond.
