Public’s help sought in solving Thursday shooting / July 19, 2021
South Boston Police continue to ask for the public’s help identifying a suspect in a Thursday morning shooting in town.

On Thursday, at approximately 2 a.m., the Halifax County 911 Center received a report of a shooting on Bane Street in the town of South Boston.

At the scene, officers found a 34-year-old black male victim in a trailer home in the Westside Trailer Park. The victim, James Burden Jr. of South Boston, suffered apparent gunshot wounds

The area around the shooting was searched and several items of evidence was collected from the scene. The victim was transported to Duke University Hospital for treatment.

Detective W. Kent Bane is leading the investigation for the South Boston Police Department. Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to call the police department at (434) 575-7203 or the Halifax County Crimeline at (434) 476-8445. Callers may remain anonymous.
