Skipwith thief makes off with bucket of green beans / June 09, 2010
Mecklenburg County investigators seeking to solve a larceny case may be asking themselves an unusual question: “Why would a thief make off with a 5-gallon bucket of green beans?”

The beans were reported stolen from a building on Highway 49 in Skipwith by Marjorie Reese. Also missing are wicker baskets and a patio table.

The Skipwith larceny is one of several under investigation across the county.

In Clarksville, the sheriff’s office is looking into the theft of a pair of blue and white Nike shoes reported by Victoria Queen of Old National Highway and the theft of a window air conditioner from a building on Iron Gate Road, reported by Zavier Deon Fritz.

At the other end of the county, Dorothy Grossnickle of Hawthorne Drive in Bracey reported an assortment of items stolen. They are: a push lawn mower, two TVs, an electric piano with stand, a George Foreman grill, a boom box, a VCR, and a sewing machine.
