Suspect charged with DUI, hit and run / June 07, 2021
A Halifax County man who is the suspected driver in a vehicle hit-and-run incident has also been charged with driving under the influence and is being held at the Blue Ridge Regional jail in Halifax without bail.

Marlo Jermaine Owen, 45, of East Hyco was arrested on Wednesday, June 2 by Halifax County Sheriff’s Deputy J. B. Ragans. According to Sheriff Fred Clark, Deputy Ragans was on patrol near the intersection of U.S. 58-501 in Riverdale when he witnessed a vehicle run into the back of another vehicle at the intesection.

The vehicle then left the scene of the accident and Ragans pulled over the motorist a short distance away. The vehicle was found to be operated by Marlo Owen and had two juvenile passengers in the vehicle. During the investigation it was suspected that Owen was under the influence of alcohol.

Owen was arrested and transported to Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Halifax. Owen was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, two counts of felony child endangerment, hit and run and driving on a revoked license. Owen is being held without bail.
