American Cancer Society chapters held Relay For Life walks in Clarksville and South Hill over the weekend to raise money for research into the disease. The 2010 honorary chairperson for Relay for Life in South Hill, Chalon Carter, speaks to survivors. She is a 16 year cancer survivor and was happy to share her experiences with those battling the disease.

Addressing questions at a candidates forum Saturday in Chase City, seven hopefuls for the Fifth District Republican congressional nomination rolled out a series of answers that illustrated how they would apply conservative principles if elected to the seat held by Democratic incumbent Tom Perriello.
