HOME LOST TO FIRE — The Coleman family of Tuck Lane near Buffalo Junction lost their home to fire Saturday morning. Family and neighbors joined hands in prayer, thanking God that no one was injured in the blaze that started in the kitchen and quickly flared up through the roof. Firefighters from Midway, Clarksville, and Boydton battled the blaze and brought out treasured possessions to family members who sat at a picnic table in front of their charred home.

Lindell Palmer, principal of Bluestone High School, is retiring following a 39-year career with Mecklenburg County Schools.

Officials seeks water deal by state

The economic development committee of the Mecklenburg County Board of Supervisors on Monday agreed that Virginia and North Carolina should negotiate an agreement to buy the remaining water allocation in John H. Kerr Reservoir.

School Board agrees to budget reduced by $5 mil
