Dailey sentenced on drug distribution charges

Carlos Dailey, a.k.a. “Bone Crusher,” 39, born in South Hill, raised in Washington, D.C. and Maryland, and most recently residing in Boydton, was sentenced Wednesday to 268 months of imprisonment. On March 30, Chief United States District Judge James R. Spencer convicted Dailey of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine from 2005 through March 2009, and one count of distribution of crack cocaine.

Preliminary examination of the skeletal remains found on Tuesday, July 21 leads the Medical Examiner to classify the bones as those of a young, adult male. An estimation of how long the victim has been dead will not be available until Saturday.

On May 28, the South Hill Police Department along with partners, Virginia State Police and the Mecklenburg Sheriff Department held a road check in the westbound lane of Highway 58 Bypass near the old asphalt plant. VDOT provided a message board to remind motorist to Buckle Up for Safety. This has been our fifth year in our joint effort to remind travelers during the Memorial Day weekend to Buckle up and Don’t Drink and Drive. During the summer months you can expect more checkpoints and saturation patrols to be out in force to encourage drivers and passengers to Click it or Ticket and DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE.

Brodnax man convicted of bank robbery

A Mecklenburg County Circuit Court Jury on Thursday found Robert Earl Tippens Jr. of Brodnax guilty of robbing Wachovia Bank in Clarksville two days before Christmas in 2009.
