Cavan meets with governor’s school students

Dr. John J. Cavan, president of Southside Virginia Community College, met with students in the Governor’s School of Southside Virginia recently delivering a motivational message to them based on his life’s triumphs and even failures from which we learn valuable lessons. These students are receiving dual credit in both high school and college for the classes they are taking thus saving their parent money in tuition and saving themselves time in their pursuit of higher education. Students at the Christanna Campus site of Governor’s School are from Brunswick, Greensville, Nottoway and Park View high schools.

Inventor, artist, designer, craftsman, welder…all these describe David Braun, assistant professor of welding at Southside Virginia Community College in Keysville. Braun grew up in Farmville and graduated from the University Of Virginia School Of Architecture. In his studies, he became fascinated with steel as a material.
