Community leaders and elected officials give a cheer as the ribbon is cut signifying the completion of the $1.2 million Clarksville Enrichment Complex.
In just minutes, 200 guests filed from the sunlight-drenched, glass-enclosed lobby of The Clarksville Enrichment Complex into the even brighter afternoon sun, witnessed a ribbon cutting precision-organized by Joe Davidson of the Mecklenburg County Community Services Corporation and Linda Williams of the Chamber of Commerce, and returned inside to cool off and celebrate.

Clarksville urged to apply now for sewer funds

Engineering consultants at Dewberry & Davis have recommended that Clarksville apply for $2.4 million in stimulus funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to replace portions of its sewer system that are failing.

American Cancer Society chapters held Relay For Life walks in Clarksville and South Hill over the weekend to raise money for research into the disease. The 2010 honorary chairperson for Relay for Life in South Hill, Chalon Carter, speaks to survivors. She is a 16 year cancer survivor and was happy to share her experiences with those battling the disease.

Lakefest earns more accolades

Clarksville’s 33rd annual Virginia Lake Festival (Lakefest) was recently awarded the “One of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast” certifications by the Southeast Tourism Society of Atlanta. Justin Eubank, president of the Clarksville Lake Country Chamber of Commerce and Linda Williams, executive director, display the award. This year’s festival is scheduled for July 15-17.
