A’Vae Elise Terry, 20, of South Boston, died on Monday, April 5, 2021. She was born in Halifax County on Jan. 7, 2001, daughter of Karen Terry Staten (Ralph) and Steven Leigh. She was a member of Dan River Bethel Baptist Church.

Ms. Terry is survived by her parents, Karen and Ralph Staten of South Boston and Steven Leigh; two brothers, Marcus Terry (Jalexus) and Kareem Staten and two sisters, Kaye’ Leigh Terry and Simone Terry, all of South Boston; her maternal grandparents, Alphonso and Willie Terry and her paternal grandparents, James and Dianne Venable, all of South Boston; one uncle, Alphonso Terry Jr. (Patricia); one nephew, Ashton Ja’Marcus Terry; godmother, Catrice Hairston; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Jimmy D. and Gracie Terry.

Graveside services were held Saturday, April 10, at 11 a.m. at Dan River Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dwight Wilkerson, eulogist.

Public viewing was held Friday from noon-6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
