A South Boston man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty in January of 11 charges of possession of child pornography and computer trespass.

Carrie Lee Hart Chandler, 68, of South Boston died Tuesday, March 30. She was born in Halifax County on Feb. 5, 1953, daughter of the late Willie James Hart and Arsue Edmondson Hart and was married to Frederick Chandler Jr. She was a member of New Mt. Olive Apostolic Church and was employed with Pizza Hut Restaurant for over 30 years.

Mrs. Chandler is survived by her husband, Frederick Chandler Jr. of the home; three children, Kelvin Chandler, Sr. (Kellie) of Milwaukee, Wis., Devin Chandler of the home and Brandy Chandler of South Boston; nine grandchildren; one brother, Rogers Hart (Dorothy); seven sisters, Doris Ann Womack (Melvin), Arnitha Terry (Gene), Janice Logan, Gladys White (Henry), Frances Mosley (Robert), Denise Bailey and Furness Jackson (Michael); three sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including the devoted Delois Ferrell and Marquis Berkley.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, April 6, at 11 a.m. at the Crawford House Chapel with District Elder William Terry, eulogist. Following COVID-19 guidelines seating is limited, a face mask and social distancing will be required.

Public viewing will be held Monday, April 5 from noon-6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
