Chester Lee “Check” Moorefield, 66, of 1221 Throckmorton Trail, Scottsburg died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at his home. He was born in Clover on Sept. 6, 1944, a son of the late George Filmore Moorefield and Elsie Marian Snead Moorefield and was married to Linda Shelton Moorefield. He was a member of True Light Baptist Church where he served as a trustee.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Bryant “Keith” Moorefield of Chatham; two brothers, Tony Moorefield of Clover, Charles Moorefield of Danville; four sisters, Ida Wilmouth of Scottsburg, Betty Jane Cooper of Rocky Mount, Joyce Farmer of Java and Zemula Pickerall of Rocky Mount; two grandchildren, Tyler Lee Moorefield and Jacob Ryan Moorefield. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Manley Moorefield and Harvey Hall Moorefield.

A funeral was held Wednesday, Feb. 2 at at True Light Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Thomas and Rev. Robert Woodfin officiating. Burial followed in the Clover Cemetery.
