Eleanor “Dean” Gosney Barnes

Eleanor “Dean” Gosney Barnes, 80, formerly of Gosney Farm Road, Keeling, died on Friday, April 16, 2010 at Danville Regional Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 5, 1929 in Pittsylvania County, a daughter of the late Jesse David Gosney and Jessie Curtis Warren Gosney. She was a graduate of Dan River High School, attended James Madison University and worked in various places in the secretarial field and was a member of Kentuck Presbyterian Church

She is survived by her daughter, Jane Clardy and husband, Calvin of Vernon Hill; four grandchildren, Jane Sisemore and husband Carl, Eric Clardy, Adam Clardy and Josh Barnes; three great-grandchildren Sara, Seth and Hosea Sisemore; one niece and sister-in-law, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Steve B. Barnes and brother, Elwood L. Gosney.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 24 at 11:0 a.m. at Kentuck Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeffrey Wright and David Smith officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. The family will meet will friends directly following the service in the church fellowship hall and at all other times will be at the home of the daughter, 1121 Carl Henderson Trail, Vernon Hill. Memorials may be directed to Kentuck Presbyterian Church Memory Garden, c/o Joanne Whitlow, 1065 Countryside Drive, Ringgold, VA.
