James Lacy Snead Jr. of South Boston died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011. He was born Sept. 10, 1928 in Halifax County and was 82 at the time of his death. He was the son of the late James Lacy Snead Sr. and the late Mary Buntin Snead Rickmond and was married to the late Betty Robertson Snead.

Mr. Snead is survived by three daughters, Peggy Snead Glasscock and husband Junior of Virgilina, Rita Snead Thompson and husband Carl of South Boston and Anne Snead Jones and husband Ollie, III of Oxford, N.C. and four grandchildren, Jeffrey Cook and wife Haven of Apex, N.C., Jessica Thompson of Richmond, Ollie Jones IV and Ethan Jones, both of Oxford, and two great grandchildren, Brandon and Kaylee Cook of Apex.

Graveside services were held Friday, Feb. 4,. at Halifax Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Billy Coghill officiating. For memorials please consider a charity of your choice. Online condolences may be directed to http://www.powellfuneralscom.
