Mack Calvin “Hambone” Nichols of Halifax died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011 at The Woodview Nursing Home. Born July 1, 1933 in Halifax County he was 77 years of age. He was the son of the late Mack Calvin Nichols, Sr. and the late Ada Fallen Nichols and was married to Corda Level Nichols who survives. He was a member of the Winns Creek Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of the 11th Airborne Division.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife of the home, three daughters, Cleda Nichols Liewald and husband, Wayne of Berlin, Md., Cynthia Rhea Nichols of Halifax and Carla Nichols Kaufman and husband, Lawrence of Crofton, Md., and four grandchildren, Michael Anthony Liewald of Ocean City Md., Christa Michele Andrews of Pittsville, Md., Brandon Nicholas Lanouette and wife Brittany of York, Pa., and Caryn Ann Liewald of Ocean City, and three great grandchildren, Trenton Murray, Cameron Andrews and Mya Lanouette, a sister, Marjorie Dalton of Scottsburg and a brother, Lucas Carrington “L.C.” Nichols of Halifax.

A funeral service for Mr. Nichols will be held on Monday, Feb. 7 at 2 p.m. at Winns Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Kopco officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
