Mary Frances Ballou Trent

Mary Frances Ballou Trent, 86, of Highview Road, Halifax died April 18, 2010 at the Woodview. She was born in Pittsylvania County on October 23, 1923, a daughter of the late John Moses Ballou and Mary Hankins Ballou and was married to the late James Edward Trent Sr. She was a member of Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was employed at Ferrell’s Florist and J.B. Taylor and Company.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Estelle Jones of Halifax and Shirley Trent Wade of Largo, Md.; three sons, James E. Trent Jr. of District Heights, Md., John D. Trent of Laurel, Md. and Charles B. Trent of Halifax; three daughters-in-law, Louise Trent, Cathy Trent and Brenda Trent; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; other relatives and friends, including Fannie Coles, Bernice Ballou Brown, Mary Alice Barnett. She was preceded in death by one son, Theodore Trent and two sisters, Marion Logan and Hallie Ferrell.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 23 at 11 a.m. at Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Elder William Howerton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be held today from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Crawford House Chapel, Halifax and at her home, 2103 Highview Road, Halifax.
