Halifax County has the early edge in the Western Valley district varsity baseball race after an 8-0 win here over Franklin County Thursday night. Falk leads SBS points race

Philip Morris, Justin Johnson and Nick Smith have swiped the headlines through the opening three NASCAR Whelen All American Late Model Stock Car Division races at South Boston Speedway, but all three are currently chasing C.E. Eagles win first round

With the score tied at 5 with two outs in the bottom of that frame, catcher Sadie Wallace, who was down in the count 1-2, brought home Kayla Spurgeon home when she slapped a base hit to right field to give the Eagles a 6-5 triumph over the Comets, the league’s reigning champion.
