Comets shut down Magna Vista 12-0

The Halifax County High School varsity softball team used a nine run first inning and a three run second, to quickly put this game out of reach and score a 12-0 win over visiting Magna Vista and improve their record to 2-0.

Runs came fast and furious in the first with Kamyria Woody-Giggetts reaching base on a centerfielder’s error. Trinity Martin hit a single; Madison Barnes drew a walk and Shamya Hankins singled sending Martin home.

Sarah Watts came to bat and hit a single plating Barnes for the 2-0 score. Peyton Lowery ripped out a double RBI while Bailey Bowen Maddie Watkins added to the scores.

The team would bat around to the cleanup position before MV was able to set the side.

Martin posted two first inning runs while Woody-Giggetts, Barnes, Hankins, Watts, Lowery, Bowen, and Watkins had a run each.

In the second inning with two outs Satterfield, Watkins, and Woody-Giggetts all singled advancing runners. Watkins earned a RBI in the frame; Martin also singled resulting in a RBI to close out scoring for the 12-0 win.

The girls travel to Bassett on Tuesday and Patrick County on Friday.
