Girls tied for third, boys fifth in district track meet

The Halifax County High School girls track team finished tied for third and the boys finished fifth in a Piedmont District meet at Magna Vista.

The girls were led by Alexis Hubbard winning the 400M dash in 1:06.50; she was also a part of the first place 4x100M, the Comet girls winning in 59.15. Hubbard also claimed the triple jump with a leap of 30-0.25; she took second place in the long jump with a distance of 13-2.

Tykayla Dye placed second in the girls discus at 56-3. Ashante Paige had a fourth place in the shot put heaving it a distance of 17.85. Dye Dye placed fifth at 16.10.

Tanaya Brandon took third in the 100M dash at 14.10; she also placed fourth in the 300M hurdles finals at 57.26.

Jaden Waller earned one first place, two second places and a third. Waller was first in the high jump at 6’; placed second in the 200M dash at 24.12, second with the 4x100M relay team, 48.02. Waller had a third in the long jump at 18’.

Jahmarri Chandler won a fifth place in the boys 100M dash running a time of 12.31. Joe Talbott had a fourth place in the boys shot put with a distance of 35’3”; he earned a fifth place in the discus throw at 82-3.

Other Comets placing on the day were Alicia Mills (100M, 200M, long jump), Daysun Wilson (100M, discus), Nicholas Easley (100M), Tysen Glass (100M), and Mark Betts (400M).
